Megan and I visited the Lory Park Zoo in Midrand today. It's a rehabilitation shelter for rescued animals that also serves as a zoo.
The tigers were on the prowl today and very active roaming their areas.
Megan looking radiant on a sunny African day, standing beside the exotic bird area.
Birds of a feather.
The baby pumas have parents in the zoo who were brought in for rehabilitation and these little guys were born there.
A 9-month-old Caracal. Just because the zoo guide told us it would be “fine” to get in the cage with the predatory cats didn’t put Megan and I totally at ease.
Megan and I were a little apprehensive about getting in the cage with this large Caracal cat, plus two adult Servals that were resting overhead in the same cage, but everything was just fine and they were friendly.

They looked so comfortable, I almost wanted to try that pose. I’ve never seen an animal resting by propping its face up by its own lip!
Petting a baby puma – 3 months old.
The highlight of my day was getting to play with a pair of baby pumas (brother and sister).

Just like playing with a house cat (except these guys could grow up and eat you). The baby pumas loved to play and wrestle.
