Aphiwe Good News Centre

The new Aphiwe Good News Centre’s construction is making progressive headway in converting the old house into a new community center/crèche/ecclesial hall. Aphiwe means “Gift” in Zulu and it is a gift to the impoverished township of Tembisa where bible classes, life skills courses, and a preschool will be offered to the community.

Managed by the Kempton Park missionaries, this new building will be a major additional step toward helping the Tembisa community we are already serving on a regular basis, and it will also serve as a model crèche for other Tembisa crèche directors to learn and incorporate concepts from.

Situated on the corner of Kangaroo and Lizard streets across from the busy Tembisa train station, it’s located in an ideal situation. A tentative launch date is planned for the middle of March 2010. Bro. Andrew and his wife Sis. Otilia Nyathi from the Kempton Park meeting have moved in to act as caretakers for the property, and Sis. Otilia will also be one of the crèche teachers.

The construction crew is hard at work adding a roof to the new addition in front.

Markers are in place for where the brick wall will go around the exterior of the property to help keep the children safe while they’re at the crèche.

The construction crew is removing the old front of the house to resituate the front door of the building.

This room will eventually become one large main room for classes.
