This past week we were very blessed to witness the stunning beauty of Cape Town. We stayed in Camps Bay and visited the surrounding Cape peninsula where we swam in the ocean with penguins, shared an apple with a baboon (I know, shame on us, we’re not supposed to feed them), visited the wine lands, and had several bible studies with the wonderful ecclesia there.
A view of Table Mountain from the city of Bloubergstrand, located about 15 minutes north of Cape Town, where we had lunch one afternoon. This particular view of the mountain shows why it’s called “Table” Mountain, with its steep sides and flat top, like a dinner table.
The idyllic beauty of Camps Bay which is framed by the Twelve Apostles mountains.

We visited the wine lands of Stellenbosch.
Since Megan and I aren’t big wine drinkers, we partook of some ice cream and coffee at the scenic Asara Winery near Stellenbosch.

The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, one of the most highly-visited sites in all of South Africa.
The V & A Waterfront, a working harbor and retail shopping district in Cape Town.
Statues honoring South Africa’s first four Nobel peace prize laureates: Nkosi Albert Luthuli, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, FW De Klerk, and Nelson Mandela.
Teaching mid-week bible class on Proverbs for the Cape Town ecclesia at the home of Cheryl and Neale Mackereth. Great turnout, we had about a dozen in attendance.
Majestic Table Mountain, located in the center of Cape Town. Notice the tiny gondola lift on top.
We took the gondola lift to the top of Table Mountain with views of Lion’s Head and the Atlantic Ocean.
Riding the gondola up to the top of Table Mountain.
View from atop Table Mountain with stunning views of Signal Hill, Cape Town city center, the Atlantic Ocean, and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 29 years in prison during Apartheid.
A view south from the top of Table Mountain overlooking Camps Bay and down the Cape Peninsula.
An African street market in Cape Town. Megan found a unique purse she bought from a vendor.
Lion’s Head peak in Cape Town, on our way to climb to the top.

We spent a day driving south down the Cape Peninsula to Cape Point.
Peaceful and scenic Hout Bay.
Megan and I overlooking Hout Bay, a quaint fishing village south of Cape Town.
We drove along Chapman’s Peak, considered one of the most beautiful drives on earth. Also, a major engineering feet for the roadwork development carved into the side of a steep cliff over the Atlantic Ocean.
Cape Point on the tip of the continent.
Megan and pictured at Cape Point on the tip of the Cape Peninsula.
Megan overlooking Cape Point on the tip of Africa. It was incredibly windy and is known as the freshest air in all of Africa, since it blows directly up from Antarctica.
African penguin colony at Boulder.
We swam with the African penguins at Seaforth beach.
The Cape Town ecclesial hall, built underneath a road, but surprisingly quiet inside from road noise (must be well-insulated).
Chatting with Bro. Dennis Jones over coffee in between bible class and exhortation Sunday morning at the Cape Town ecclesial hall.
Megan at the Camps Bay beach on our final afternoon in Cape Town.
